Major Baczko's book is a memoir of an active participant in the fights of the 9th pp. 3rd Division on the Czerniakow bridgehead. The author fought at the bridgehead from almost the first moment. Wounded - he is evacuated on the eve of the withdrawal of the unit. His memoirs are an interesting document, depicting a hitherto little-known page of the fights of the Polish Army soldiers, who did not regret their blood and lives to help the insurgents of Warsaw.
